The Norwegian Embassy in Tel Aviv did not immediately respond when asked for comment on Tuesday.

This is what passes for a Norwegian diplomat:

A Norwegian diplomat based in Saudi Arabia has sent out e-mails from her Foreign Ministry e-mail account equating Israel's offensive against Hamas in Gaza with the systematic mass murder of six million Jews by the Nazis. One of the picture sets that...

The e-mail, sent out by Trine Lilleng, a first secretary at the Norwegian Embassy in Riyadh, includes a juxtaposition of black-and-white pictures from the Holocaust with color images of Operation Cast Lead.

"The grandchildren of Holocaust survivors from World War II are doing to the Palestinians exactly what was done to them by Nazi Germany," the e-mail states.

So, what do the Norwegians in Israel say about this?

The Norwegian Embassy in Tel Aviv did not immediately respond when asked for comment on Tuesday.

Hopefully they were too busy packing, expulsion orders in hand.

Assholes.

"Asshole" is an epithet which gives an accurate idea of the nature of the one who throws it.

I agree with the Norwegian diplomat. I am an American Jew. I will probably be labeled a "self-hating Jew" by supporters of Israel-right-or-wrong.

Israel claims that Palestinian actions make its responses necessary. Like the Palestinians, 19th century Native Americans protesting the systematic progessive seizure of more and more of their land struck back at white European settlers with force, giving the invaders more reason to wipe them out and herd the survivors into barren reservations where nothing could be grown or produced. Would anyone today say that, overall, the Native Americans were in the wrong?

Likewise the Palestinians. Israel's offers of peace to the Palestinians have never included an adequate fresh water supply, or lands uncrossed by checkpointed roads and divided into tiny Bantustans. A people would need to lose its self-respect to take these grudging offerings. I believe it is possible that Israel makes these grudging and stingy offers to stir up more resistance among the Palestinians, and thus justify even more war and takings of land. Ben-Gurion himself once said in private to an aide that he did not blame the Palestinians for reacting as they did.

You're absolutely right, Charles. You are a self-hating Jew.

Seriously, you've got a problem with the aggressor and the defender in this one.

Yes, you can make the argument that American western expansion and the treatment of the Natives was a systematic campaign of concentration and genocide.

But when you consider the Arabs of the region, all Arabs, was there ever really a plan to disperse and eliminate ALL of them?

And every act of violence, every expansion by the Jewish population - all were in the form of *defensive* measures that succeeded beyond the scope planned. And since then, the world has demanded land-for-peace and Israel has given it time and time again... all to no real avail... just more violence from the "we want everything" one-state rejectionists.

Perhaps in your frenzy of screaming Nazi! at every corner, you will consider the existence of the Israeli Arabs, and I use that term loosely - when were THEY being rounded up and exterminated, experimented upon, murdered wholesale?

The comparison to the Nazi regime is abhorrent in spirit and, at the very least, incorrect in scale.

As I have said many times before, if it's a genocide, the Palestinian sub-set of Arabs have shown it to be the most incompetent one by having their numbers grow at least ten fold.

Providing food, water, sewage, technology, jobs all those years... what a deviously clever campaign of extermination by having the breed up their numbers so large!
