In my SL blog, I listed a bunch of terms that the Palestinians and their defenders have been throwing around in their protests which, when you take a deeper look at the situation, have no merit.
One is "disproportionate use of force."
Alan Dershowitz utterly obliterates any accusation of Israel using disproportionate use of force:
Israel's actions in Gaza are justified under international law, and Israel should be commended for its self-defense against terrorism. Article 51 of the United Nations Charter reserves to every nation the right to engage in self-defense against armed attacks. The only limitation international law places on a democracy is that its actions must satisfy the principle of proportionality.
You know, like the accusations by United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon.
It's disgusting to think that the head of the United Nations is so utterly ignorant of the charter of his organization and how to correctly interpret it.
I'm sure he'd figure it out if, say, North Korea were to start lobbing missiles at South Korea.
Another at JTA.
How did Ban Ki Moon get that job if he didn't know what "disproportional" means?
is this some kind of translational error from the original text to Korean?
Maybe "disproportional" translates to "let them fire thousands of missiles and mortars at you" in Korean?
Any Korean experts out there that can help with this?
No, really, Mr. Miyagi. Put down the kimchee and type in a comment with your take on this.

No No no. A disproportionate use of force would be using a Tactical Nuke to stop a high speed chase, or spraying weaponized ebola around in order to seize some land for a developer.
Using a tactical nuke or weaponized ebola on a population that is attacking you with rockets is merely answering force with overwhelming force.
I say nuke the bastards back to the 7th century. Not just Gaza and the West Bank, but Syria, Iran, Jordan, and Pakistan too. They want Nukes? Give them nukes. Just make sure the fuses are set for air burst first.

disproportional? Like Over kill isn't it. I think had the rocket attacks immediately stopped, we could question if it was disproprtional, but that did not happen. If anything, turning up the heat with Tanks seems necessary. I hate this conflict! But! But! But! How long can rocket attacks be viewed as righteous. How long can Israel sit beside someone who openingly declares their intent to bring Israel down, and backs it up with rockets and acts of random terrorism. This freaking part of the world is a mess. Sad is the day when Ideology drags the rest of us into it. Question history if you like. At the end of the day, does Israel have a right to exist where they are? Will this question only truly be answered in a world war. Dispite our vested interest it will be the Muslims who will have to answer this question. Iran sure as hell is not helping the situation.
