Don't spare The Rod:
The criminal complaint filed today against Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich contains a remarkable section detailing the Democratic politician's alleged attempt to cash in on his ability to fill the U.S. Senate seat vacated by President-elect Barack Obama. The U.S. District Court complaint, which is excerpted below, alleges that Blagojevich was caught on FBI wiretaps noting that the Senate seat "is a fucking valuable thing, you just don't give it away for nothing." He was also recorded saying that unless "I get something real good," he would appoint himself to the vacancy. "I'm going to keep this Senate option for me a real possibility, you know, and therefore I can drive a hard bargain. You hear what I'm saying. And if I don't get what I want and I'm not satisfied with it, then I'll just take the Senate seat myself." According to the surreptitiously recorded conversations, Blagojevich spoke with associates about the possibility of trading the Senate post for either an ambassadorship or a Cabinet post.
Here's a modest proposal - take the Senate seat away from Illinois and give it to Texas.
When you're capable of electing a governor that doesn't end up in prison, we'll be glad to give it back to you.

I live near where Gov. "Testicular Fortitude" was arrested and what can I say...couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Here's what I don't understand. He's the 4th Illinois Governor to get arrested. In my life there have been two Illinois Politicians arrested every year (thanks to Rachel Maddow for the facts on this one who is the same age as I).
These are lawmakers right?
Why don't Illinois politicians just legalize corruption?!? The people don't care if you're corrupt IF you get the job done you've promised to do. We don't care about Daley being corrupt. Didn't care about Washington being corrupt. Only cared about Balandik being corrupt because he couldn't deal with snow. Only cared about Ryan being corrupt because a family died famously.
When corruption is illegal only criminals will get graft.
