Oh, Laurence, I am so sorry for you and Gina. We just finished a special prayer vigil over on the Pet Prayer and Praise blog, just for Frisky and family.
I can't say much right now (for once!), just know that you, Gina and Nardo are in my heart and thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
And that maybe right now, Frisky is meeting my beloved Bear.

I'm so sorry. Frisky was always my special favorite- he seemed like such a sweetie! I didn't realize he was that ill, so this is a shock.

You, Gina and Nardo are in my thoughts. I didn't find out until I was on my way to work and had to pull over to collect myself. When I get home Bronwyn and Baxter will be getting extra hugs when I get home.
The internet is great for bringing people together, but at times like this you are too far away.

Laurence, I remember well your kindness in your support and condolences to me when my beloved Ariel passed in July '06.
So broken of heart and devoid of spirit was I, that I never properly replied to the many who gave solace. I wish now to rectify that, and to offer to you the same comfort and support which you so graciously gave to me.
I'm at work right now, but when I'm home tonight, I shall scoop up Ariel's 13 year-old brother Harley, and give him the extra snuggles and kisses in memory of your sweet Frisky.
Cats become a part of our souls.

Laurence, once again I extend my condolences to you and your family. You give so much of yourself to your pets, and I fully understand the grief that inevitably becomes a part of that devotion.
Of course the toughest part of sharing our lives with animals is when we have to let go of them, but the joy and lessons they bring us, and the memories they leave us with make it worthwhile. I guess you can never experience true happiness without a measure of pain, but it would be wonderful if we never had to let go of our pets.
My wife recently told me our marriage is over, and we agreed I would take Ebby, Thalia, Jackie and Angel with me when we finally separate. The night we came to that decision I could hardly sleep because it hit me that I will be alone to deal with the end of each of their lives. It's something I have great difficulty with, and terrifies me no end, but there is no way in the world I would let those animals out of my life.
