President Nicholas Sarkozy has severed ties with Syria over the blatant interference with Lebanon in their elections and society through Hezbollah and other agents.
It's about time that some nation treated Syria the same as the Arab World treats Israel over the perceived virtual-occupation of Gaza through the siege of Hamas. (Even though it's just one of a never-ending list of grievances and excuses using to cover for the inherent anti-semitism and wish for the destruction of Israel by the Arab World.)
So why is Arlen Specter curling up on Bashar Assad's lap and purring?
Senator Arlen Specter said the political atmosphere in both Syria and Israel was different now and that the time was "positive" for resuming peace talks between the two countries, halted since 2000."We had a very productive meeting with Assad," Specter, a Republican from Pennsylvania, told The Associated Press after talks with the Syrian leader in Damascus.
He added that he got the impression after the meeting with Assad that the time was very "positive for productive talks between Israel and Syria."
"There is a sense that he [Assad] is ready and the Syrian public opinion is ready [for peace]," Specter said. The meeting with Assad that was also attended by Rep. Patrick Kennedy, a Rhode Island Democrat.
That's nice, Arlen. Did you visit the various terrorist organization offices in Damascus and collect up their talking points for fooling left-wingers in Israel into political suicide, or did they send them out by NGO couriers?
UPDATE:
Syria publicly gloats that ties still continue.
So, was Sarkozy continuing the longstanding Chiracian tradition of making empty threats and then pandering to the Francophile Arab nations, or is this Arab Shame-culture in full swing, the Syrians trying to icepack their massive black eye and denying the truth?
Probably a mixture of both. Never trust a French diplomat or the Arab who's ass he's trying to kiss or kick.
