Term Limits

Remember the rising star idea that was planned for New Years two years ago for Houston, and then Carol Alvorado whining that it took over a year to plan, so they didn't do it again in 2006?

Well, they're had over a year to plan for 2007.

Are they doing it?

No.

Looking at her whine over term limits in the ever-accommodating Houston Chronicle:

Think about it. The city is responsible for providing protection for the millions that work, live in and visit our city every day. We make sure that they can get around our city with relative ease on our roads and streets. We pick up their garbage. We make their parks attractive destinations for families and visitors. We provide Houstonians with an infrastructure that allows them to take full advantage of our entertainment venues like the finest restaurants, theaters, cinemas and sports venues. We have constructed great airports that make it easy for folks to get in and out of our city with minimal hassles.

But you couldn't bother watching the books that your underlings in the Mayor Pro Tem office cooked, nor could you manage to plan an annual event without more than a year's advance notice?

That's seriously fucked, woman. Seriously, seriously fucked.

The ballot box is the way for the people you represent to throw you out of office. Term limits is how the people in other districts that you fail to serve are guarantees that the people you represent can't inflict your stupidity upon the populace at large in that capacity for the rest of your natural life.

Pardon my French, Carol, but please let the door hit you on the ass as you get the fuck out of City Hall.
