Seriously fucked-up cat technology

Will someone explain why we need glow-in-the-dark cats?

The researchers hope that the procedure could help develop treatments for human genetic diseases.

The scientists, from Gyeongsang National University in South Korea, explained that they used the skin cells of the mother cat for cloning. To modify its genes, they inserted a virus in the skin cells, which were then transplanted into the mother's womb. Four Turkish Angora kittens were born in January, but two died during a caesarean section. The two living cats, now nearly a year old, weigh about 6-7pounds.

I mean, sure, there's times that I'd like to be able to find Frisky when he's hiding under the bed or find Nardo when he's out hunting lizards at midnight, but still - THIS IS SOME SERIOUSLY FUCKED UP FRANKENSTEIN SHIT.

Does not want!

glow in the dark cats make as much sense as matzo clocktowers

At least it doesn't glow in the dark. (yet)

What?

The reflection you get from their eyes when you shine a flashlight under the bed isn't enough of a 'glow'?

When Chester or Cali are hiding, I rely on the tried and true method of taking a bottle of kitty treats and shaking them.

Works ever single fucking time.

Frisky sometimes ignores the bag-shake or the can-tap.

Nardo's just dumb.

The headline is bogus. Actually, the article says they "glow" when you shine a blacklight on them. They're not phosphorescent (which would glow in the presence of no light at all). Maybe it should have been "Scientists create Day-Glo cats."

But, yeah, imagine being asleep in bed. You awaken to a pressure on your chest, and when you open your eyes, there! Inches away from your face! Is a glowing, purring, blob. Aaaargh!

Um... so instead of going around with an ordinary flashlight, I'd need a blacklight flashlight to find them?

Helps find monsters under the bed!
