So, why did the local media get the city up in a frenzy of panic and worry over Hurricane Dean?
One should look to the forecasters to see the problem...
They really need to staff the NHC properly.

Now, Laurence, that's not fair to NHC. When Dean was waaaaaaaaaay out in the Atlantic there was a possibility it would head our way. That got the local stations all fired up because they had something other than drug related murders and fires caused by morons. Once they lock on to something they can't let it go.
I watch KPRC and it is almost funny. They make it the lead story and go to Frank Billingsley and he shows us that it isn't going to come anywhere near us. I like his inability to hype up a nothing situation.
