You can bet that Garner isn't calling the shot on Biggio. It may not be the best baseball decision but it's a great business decision. McLane is going be filling the seats as Biggio gets closer to 3000.
It wouldn't matter if LaRussa, Torre, Lasorda, and the ghosts of Billy Martin and Casey Stengel were all managing the Astros. Biggio will be at 2nd until he gets 3000 - even if it goes to next year.

No, I believe Garner would be stupid enough to WANT Biggio in there, knowing his way of managing.
Hell, he's got the man leading off. What's he trying to prove?
