How about some tissues to stop your tears?

Our anniversary is tomorrow. My gift bag consisted of some grilling stuff and a gift certificate, but the real gift was the bag itself...

Tissues! Tissues!

When I woke up this morning, the tissues were scattered everywhere. The little monsters had themselves a great time with the things. I may just point the wireless camera at the pile tonight. Right now, it's pointing to Frisky's corner and I've left the light on a tad so y'all can see him. (If he doesn't go back to sleeping by the armoire and sniffing under there now and then, wondering where his friend went.)

I've gone through two boxes of Kleenex and they hadn't really stopped the crying fits. Instead, I should have just tossed the tissues on the floor and let the cats play with them to cheer me up.

The Modulator is running the Friday Ark again, and I need to remember to update the graph tonight. I've gotten a little sloppy, like a Belgian detective who doesn't have any nuts on his chocolate bar.

The Carnival of the Cats is at Watermark, who has also suffered a death in the family recently.

I went through some of my 15,000 photos last night and picked out a few that I hadn't posted yet. This one is the start of the series.

The first photo is from when Elisson paid a pilgrimage to visit Edloe back in April. It was utterly fascinating to watch Edloe warm up to him. Especially considering how she's a scardey-cat.

I think the treats helped. Closing all the doors to prevent her escape helped, too.

Anne:

Oh Laurence...my heart hurts for all of you.

And now I need more Kleenex again.

Plenty of tissues have been used this week.

*hugs*

Bob:

gee Laurence, what a girly-man you are, tissues indeed, I opted for the big roll of Bounty paper towels, seems to last longer and they are pretty damn absorbent, its my allergies kicking up, yeah thats it, oh well, people here at the office are buyin the allergy excuse anyway.

:( I'm so sorry Laurence.

That's a wonderful series of photos in this post. I can almost hear the rustle of the tissue paper.

plum:

I trotted out the allergy excuse as well. I never thought the death of a pet not my own would hit me this hard.

BTW, Happy Anniversary to you and the missus!

I'm so sorry, Lair. I liken the grief to an earthquake. You never know when it's gonna hit and you never know if it's going to hit hard or light.

Let it go, let it out, she was a much loved cat and she deserves every tear that's shed.

And kudos to Piper, Frisky and Nardo for keeping you smiling, at least a little.

Mira:

My heart goes out to you, Lair, and to everyone else in the Simon household. Many tears have been shed in the Oubliette for Edloe, and for y'all, the survivors. You have the hardest part, moving on. Let Frisky, Piper, and Nardo bring you the smiles which will eventually become more frequent than the tears.

(hugs for all)

And Happy Anniversary to both of you!

Connecticut Yankee:

You're so right about the ongoing need for Kleenex. My friend's cat Truman (after Capote the writer, not Harry the prez) died from liver failure two weeks ago-- he was 15 and a real character-- and those of us who knew him still tear up from time to time. That picture of Edloe and the treats brought the tears back again. Every cat has something unique and unforgettable about her or him.

I think Edloe will be smiling on your anniversary tomorrow-- may the two of you have many good years together.

Take all the time you need to heal. You have a big heart, and Edloe was a special cat.

I'm glad that the others are around to give you comfort. Those photos are priceless, especially the one of Nardo's tail sticking out.

A Concerned Patriot:

Rob DeSelms, you are so vain! Why are you Googling yourself?
