WASHINGTON (IFOC) - Senator Richard Durbin (D-IL) apologized today for remarks last week when he compared Guantanamo prison guards to Nazis.
"I would like to apologize to Nazis everywhere for the unfair comparison," said the senator, holding back tears. "I did not mean to besmirch the reputations of those who, through no fault of their own, were only following the cruel and vicious orders handed down to them by superiors unlike the rogue soldiers of Guantanamo."
Durbin's apologies were accepted by former United Nations Secretary General Kurt Waldheim and the Henry Ford Foundation before both quickly denied any involvement with the Nazi Party, politically or through business dealings.
