I'd like to see Zathras from Babylon 5 show up in every one of the Prime Time series on network television. He shows up, he gets the job done in his usual sad and dedicated way, and then he dies.
Just try to imagine him on CSI: Miami...
KANE: "How are those DNA assays going, Zathras?"
ZATHRAS: "Zathras nearly finished. Finished with DNA, finished with Zathras. All crimes end in sadness."
KANE: "Excellent work."
It think it would work. And it would certainly help Zathras better character recognition, maybe even his own series.

Joe Straczynski created the most underated Scifi epic ever written and filmed. I watch it often in not particular order. Lando is prolly my fav character and Zack Allen my least(what were they thinking?)...but BB5 has an embarrassment of riches such as Zathras.
Full of scifi puns and inside jokes such as in the episode "TKO" from season one, Lt. Commander Susan Ivanova is seen reading Harlan Ellison's book "Working Without a Net." which was the title of Ellison's planned autobiography, but did not exist at the time. Ellison was a conceptual consultant on BB5 and according to Straczynski, Ellison borrowed the prop and carried it around for a while to make people think they had missed it when it came out.
As much fun as Peter Jackson's cameo demise is as the pirate captain accidentially shot through the heart by Legolas in ROTK, it's hard to beat Straczynski as the technician who turns off the station's lights in the series finale.

Sadly, the actor who portrayed Zathras, Tim Choate, died last September in a motorcycle accident.
